Faint red-orange foxing spots dot the corners of this 1953 series United States two-dollar note, a small but telling sign of decades spent in storage. The note carries a red Treasury seal and red serial numbers reading A20570197A, printed on the classic small-size format with Thomas Jefferson’s portrait centered on the face and an engraving of Monticello spanning the reverse in green ink.

Text across the face identifies it as a United States Note, Series 1953, with the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest as Treasurer of the United States and G.M. Humphrey as Secretary of the Treasury, along with the C3 plate designation. The reverse carries the standard “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” banner and dual TWO DOLLARS denominations flanking the Monticello vignette, with plate number 399 in the lower right corner.
