Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate from Series 1957, featuring the portrait of George Washington at center front and the familiar Great Seal pyramid and eagle design on the reverse. This blue-seal note certifies silver on deposit in the U.S. Treasury and was legal tender for all debts, public and private, at the time of issue.
The note carries the printed signatures of Ivy Baker Priest, Treasurer of the United States, and Robert B. Anderson, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the blue Treasury seal and matching blue serial numbers reading X44405089A. Washington, D.C. is printed beneath the seal, and the reverse bears the standard green ink used on U.S. currency of this era, including the Latin mottoes ANNUIT COEPTIS and NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM.
The note shows honest circulation wear consistent with its age, including light soiling, a few faint creases and fold lines, and mild toning along the edges and corners. A small sticker with a handwritten inventory number has been affixed to the front in the upper left area. No tears, holes, or heavy staining are present.
