Description
Crisp blue-seal One Dollar Silver Certificate from Series 1957B anchors this listing, with George Washington’s portrait centered beneath the bold blue Treasury seal. The note reads “THIS CERTIFIES THAT THERE IS ON DEPOSIT IN THE TREASURY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND,” the hallmark language of the silver certificate series that circulated before the shift to Federal Reserve Notes. Serial number Y04808993A appears twice on the face in blue ink, bookending the familiar ornate border work and the large “ONE” numerals in each corner.
The reverse carries the classic green ink design featuring the Great Seal of the United States on the right and the pyramid-and-eye motif on the left, framed by “IN GOD WE TRUST” and the words “ONE DOLLAR” across the bottom. Signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, appear in the lower portion of the obverse, consistent with the printed Series 1957B designation shown near the seal.
The note presents with light overall handling consistent with a note that saw circulation, including gentle corner wear and mild toning to the paper. No tears, holes, or significant creasing is visible, and the printed detail throughout the portrait and border engraving remains sharp and well-defined.
