Description
Reproduction soap box derby racer from Nylint’s Downhill Heros series, cast in black with a low, streamlined body and bright red disc wheels. The car recreates the 1951 Soap Box Derby winning entry sponsored by the Sun Gazette Co. of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, complete with a molded driver’s seat and brass-tone steering hardware visible through the cockpit opening.
The box carries full Nylint branding, including the “Real Toys for Real Kids Since 1946” logo and the Soap Box Derby shield emblem, and is numbered 137 on the packaging. An interior card printed inside the display box gives background on the 1951 race, noting the Williamsport team’s multiple top finishes and listing celebrities who attended, including Ronald Reagan.
The box shows shelf wear consistent with age, including creasing along the corners and edges, some surface scuffing, and visible tape marks on the side panel. The car remains sealed behind the plastic display window and appears complete and undamaged.
