Description
United States one-dollar Silver Certificate, Series 1957A, printed on paper currency stock with the familiar portrait of George Washington centered on the face. The blue Treasury seal and blue serial numbers identify it as a Silver Certificate, redeemable in the note’s era for silver payable to the bearer on demand, and the serial number 66206001 A carries a star prefix, marking it as a replacement star note.
The face bears the printed signatures of Elizabeth Rudel Smith, Treasurer of the United States, and C. Douglas Dillon, Secretary of the Treasury, along with the Washington, D.C. district designation and district letter G2, plus plate number G711 in the lower right corner. The reverse carries the standard green ONE DOLLAR design with the Great Seal of the United States on the right, the pyramid and all-seeing eye on the left, and the “IN GOD WE TRUST” motto centered above the word ONE.
The note shows circulation wear consistent with its age, including visible creasing and fold lines across the face and back, mild toning and yellowing of the paper, and light soiling along the edges and corners. No tears, holes, or missing pieces are present, and the printing remains crisp and fully legible throughout.
